An iconic Christmas movie will take the stage this holiday season — as a musical.

“A Christmas Story: The Musical” is being presented by the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre.

It will run Nov. 20 through Dec. 20.

Based on the popular movie “A Christmas Story,” “Ralphie Parker” will take the audience on a journey fueled by his daydreams.

The Civic Theatre said the musical is filled with all the “nostalgic moments you cherish”: a major award, a tongue stuck on a flagpole, the Santa slide, pink bunny suit and Red Ryder carbine action, two-hundred shot range air rifle.

“This show has it all: from flashy production numbers to heartfelt ballads and, of course, dancing lamps,” said Bruce Tinker, executive and artistic director, Grand Rapids Civic Theatre.

“A Christmas Story: The Musical” was a Tony Award nominee in 2013 for Best Musical, following its Broadway debut in November 2012.

Tickets for the show are on sale now and range from $18-$35.
