An insurance brokerage with a large Michigan presence hired a vice president to oversee business development in West Michigan.
Toledo-based Hylant said Thursday that it has hired Ken Fortier as vice president of business development for the West Michigan division.
He started in the newly created role in February and is based at Hylant’s downtown Grand Rapids office, at 85 Campau Ave. NW, Suite 100.
“This is exciting news to share for our Grand Rapids office,” said Jeff Lumpp, president of Hylant’s West Michigan operations. “Being a growth market, our focus on continuing to drive new opportunities to the firm remains critical. Ken is a terrific fit to lead our efforts to develop opportunities in the community, as he is the ultimate connector.”
Prior to Hylant, Fortier was the director of sales and marketing for Deksia, a marketing firm in Grand Rapids. Fortier is credited with leading Deksia through its largest period of growth from 2018-20.
He also served as CEO of Grand Rapids-based information services firm Quantum Leap Communications from 2003-13, when he sold his business.
Fortier also has experience working with insurance agencies as a consultant.
He serves as a co-chair of the Davenport University Alumni board, is a member of the Kids’ Food Basket Fund Development Committee and co-chairs its largest outside annual fundraiser, the Driving Out Hunger Golf Classic.
Fortier holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Davenport University.
