Construction has begun on a new condominium project in the core of a Grand Rapids suburb.
A group of unnamed local investors, operating as Blank Slate Properties, said today they have broken ground on the 25-condo Bronson Street Residences in Ada Village, which is located at the corner of Bronson and Hadley streets.
The first property will be ready for occupancy early next summer.
The cost of the project was not disclosed.
The architect on the project is Grand Rapids-based J. Visser Design, and the design borrows from the classic bungalow look of 1920s-era Grand Rapids.
No contractor has been formally finalized for the project.
Blank Slate Properties will work with Grandville-based Grand River Bank to help with financing.
“Our goal is to create great homes that are an extension of the fabric of the Ada neighborhood and feel like they’ve been here for a long time,” said Curtis Visser, one of the investors in Blank Slate Properties and co-owner of J. Visser Design.
Visser said his deep roots in the Ada community and the opportunity to contribute to the new vision for the village are a couple of the reasons for the project.
The individual two-story units will range from 1,200 to 2,200 square feet, with two to four bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms.
All units will feature private porches, open floor plans, extra deep two-stall garages, all kitchen appliances and a washer and dryer. Buyers can also add extra options, such as a sunroom or an elevator.
Prices start at $349,900.
JH Realty Partners in Ada is “taking sales reservations” on the units.
