With a merger deal in place, a growing IT firm has fulfilled its co-founder’s “vision” for the company.

C/D/H, which operates offices in Grand Rapids, Detroit and Chicago, said last week that it has merged with Blue Sphere Solutions, a software development firm with offices in Grand Rapids and Chicago.

C/D/H partners Mark Becker and Susan Cotts will make up half of the management team, with C/D/H’s Jim Brown becoming partner and director of sales and marketing and Blue Sphere’s former owner Chris Hashley becoming partner and director of software development.

Paul Hillman, co-founder and partner at C/D/H, will be retiring as a firm shareholder, but stay on as a part-time consultant and business development executive.

The merger is the latest in a series of growth-driven moves by the employee-owned C/D/H, which was founded in 1990.

“C/D/H acquiring the web development and SharePoint team from Plante Moran in 2011 was the first step towards the C/D/H transformation,” Hillman said. “The Coil Group merger was a natural extension of that vision.

“With the addition of the Blue Sphere team, the vision I had with Mark Becker and Susan Cotts is solidified. I have high confidence that the collective embodiment of all three firms, operating as one C/D/H, will serve our existing and future clients well after my retirement.”
