A part of Grand Rapids can be found in London.

London, home to landmarks like Big Ben and Buckingham Palace, is now home to the growing Grand Rapids-based firm Open Systems Technology.

OST — a $100-million firm that also operates offices in Ann Arbor, Detroit and Minneapolis — said Monday that it opened a London office on Dec. 1 of last year.

OST’s office is just southeast of Robin Hood Gardens and just north of the River Thames, at 1 Paul Julius Close, Blackwell Yard, Blackwell Way E14 2EH.

UK market

The location offers OST’s primary services, such as managed IT services, data center solutions and architecting, virtual desktop infrastructure, cloud design services and hardware reselling.

OST London is now an authorized reseller for HP, Cisco, and Dell products throughout the UK, and it is "anticipating strong sales" over the next 12-18 months.

“We established OST London at the request of one of our largest clients,” said Dan Behm, OST president and CEO. “The first two orders are from this client, but we have other large clients that are watching us closely to see if it might make sense to place their U.K. orders through OST London.

“Our reasoning for opening OST London is to further solidify our relationship with our client and to gain the experience of operating an international company. We believe that having a global presence will make OST even more desirable to our existing enterprise accounts, and it may be a part of what attracts new multi-national companies to do business with us.”

Growth trend

The London office is another marker in a season of growth for OST, which recently announced the need to hire 20 full-time employees, mostly at its Grand Rapids office.

OST was recently named a 2013 newsmaker nominee by the Grand Rapids Business Journal.

OST has made the Inc. 5000 ranking of fastest growing private companies for the last seven years.
