A local IT firm is investing up to $699,000 in its operation.

IP Consulting is adding 25 jobs at its Kentwood office, at 3635 29th St. SE, and investing the funds in new technology and workstations to accommodate more employees, according to The Right Place, a regional economic development nonprofit, today.

The company chose Michigan for the expansion over a competing site in Virginia, where Kentwood-based IP Consulting also has an office.

The Right Place said the Virginia location would have been closer to IP Consulting’s customer base and has a larger talent pool.

IP Consulting has a three-year growth rate of 507 percent and has been selected as one of Inc.’s fastest-growing private companies in the U.S. each of the past three years.

The company posted revenue of $7.7 million in 2015 and was ranked the No. 18 fastest-growing private company in Michigan by Inc.

IP Consulting, founed in 2006, offers expertise in cyber security, network infrastructure, unified communications and data centers.

IP Consulting has been approved for a $180,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corp., or MEDC, for its expansion.

“IP Consulting’s growth and demand for our services have brought us to a critical crossroad,” said Katie Belock, financial manager, IP Consulting. “With assistance from The Right Place and the grant award from the MEDC, we were able to make a confident decision to call West Michigan home for IP Consulting’s future.”

Richard Breon, chair of The Right Place, said, “Without The Right Place’s support, these new jobs and many others would be in jeopardy of being created elsewhere.”
