An Italian restaurant on a major retail corridor in Grand Rapids has closed.

The Carrabba’s Italian Grill at 4061 28th St. SE closed yesterday, according to a spokesperson from Blomin’ Brands of Tampa, Florida, which owns the Carrabba’s chain.

“Closing restaurants is never easy. The decision was based solely on business circumstances and has no reflection on the employees or their service,” the company said.

Bloomin’ Brands said some Carrabba’s employees will have the opportunity to transfer to a sister restaurant, and all employees will receive severance.

The restaurant was one of two Carrabba’s in West Michigan. The other location is in Grandville, at 3441 Century Center St. SW.

Bloomin’ Brands also owns Outback Steakhouse, Bonefish Grill and Flemings Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar.
