Kellogg Company has named its new CEO.
The Battle Creek-based food maker said today its board of directors elected Steven Cahillane to the role, effective Oct. 2.
Cahillane was named to the position after the current CEO John Bryant announced his retirement.
Cahillane will also join Kellogg Company's board, effective Oct. 2.
Most recently, Cahillane served as president and CEO of The Nature’s Bounty Co., a New York-based maker of more than 16,000 health and wellness products with more than 4,000 employees.
Bryant will continue as executive chairman of the board until March 15, 2018, when Cahillane will assume the dual role of chairman and CEO.

Bryant said he’s “confident that the strength of Steve's leadership, combined with the drive and talent of our management team and the passion of our incredible employees, will enable Kellogg to realize our vision and purpose, while achieving our long-term growth goals.”
Prior to leading The Nature’s Bounty Co., Cahillane served for seven years with the Coca-Cola Co. in various senior positions, including president of Coca-Cola Americas, president and CEO of Coca-Cola Refreshments, president of Coca-Cola Enterprises of North America and president of Coca-Cola Enterprises in Europe.
Cahillane also served for eight years with Anheuser-Busch InBev as chief commercial officer and CEO of the company’s Interbrew U.K. and Labatt U.S.A. subsidiaries.
Cahillane serves on the board of Children’s Healthcare in Atlanta, the Purpose Built Communities Foundation and Northwestern University.
He earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.S. in political science from Northwestern University.
