Kellogg Company has launched a digital food drive that will run through Giving Tuesday.
The Battle Creek-based food maker launched the initiative last month in partnership with Feeding America and Amazon.
The drive will run through Nov. 27.
Kris Bahner, SVP of global corporate affairs at Kellogg Company, said the drive allows the company to give back.
“We know that people expect great-tasting foods from Kellogg. They also expect us to be a responsible corporate citizen. And we are,” Bahner said.
“We care about feeding people in need, and we know that our consumers care too. That’s why we’re excited to announce a new campaign that makes it easier than ever for people to join us in fighting hunger and to help donate the foods hungry families request most, according to Feeding America food banks across the U.S.”
How it works
Through a donation page on Amazon.com, people can select from a list of participating Feeding America food bank locations and click to review the food bank’s “wish list.”
From there, they can select one or more items from the wish list, as identified by Feeding America with support from Kellogg Company, and purchase from Amazon, which will ship their order directly to the food bank.
Kellogg worked with Feeding America’s national office to secure the participating food banks for the campaign, then worked with the individual food bank locations to build their wish lists, using the list of most-needed foods provided by Feeding America.
The brands featured on the site were selected by the food banks. Some, but not all, of the items are made by Kellogg Company.
Michigan food banks
Participating Michigan food banks include the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan in Flint and the Food Bank of South Central Michigan in Battle Creek.
