Tuesday will be the last day to bid for vintage décor from Sam’s Joint in Kentwood.

The final auction for items at the Kentwood Sam’s Joint will be held online at Orbitbid.com tomorrow, July 2, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Pre-bidding is open today, and auction assistants will be available onsite at 1665 Viewpond Dr. today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and tomorrow from 8 a.m.to 5 p.m.

The auction will feature vintage model trains, airplanes and boats, metal and wood signs, sports memorabilia, musical instruments, historic oddities, framed artwork, pictures and more.

This is one of several online auctions Orbitbid.com has hosted for Sam’s Joint, said Jon Kuiper, online auction specialist.

He said the other Sam’s Joints in Plainwell, Gun Lake, Alaska, Coopersville and Norton Shores will remain open.

Online auctions have gained popularity in the past decade, Kuiper said, with Orbitbid probably holding four to five auctions online a week.

“We’ve been doing live auctions for 30 years and started online sales about 10 years ago. They’ve really taken off,” Kuiper said. “We haven’t lost the fact that people still want to come in and look at items, so we are on site as well.”
