Law firm hires 10 attorneys

Ten attorneys are joining a Grand Rapids-based law firm.

The new attorneys will be spread across Varnum’s Grand Rapids and Novi offices.

Varnum said the new roles are a result of the firm’s overall growth statewide. 

Varnum now has more than 170 attorneys across eight offices in Michigan.

Grand Rapids

Herman Hofman is a graduate of Michigan State University College of Law and earned his bachelor’s degree from Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa. He formerly served as a clerk for Chief Judge Robert J. Jonker in the District Court for the Western District of Michigan.

Paul Albarran is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame Law School and Oakland University. His legal experience includes serving as a judicial extern to Judge Mary Beth Kelley on the Michigan Supreme Court and Judge Patrick M. Meter on the Michigan Court of Appeals.

Seth Arthur is a graduate of Michigan State University College of Law and Saint Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Indiana. His legal experience includes serving as a judicial clerk for Kent County 17th Circuit Court under Judge Patricia Gardner and Judge Patrick Hillary.

Christopher George is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame Law School and Michigan State University. He served as a summer associate at a New York-based law firm and was a law clerk for the city of Boston’s legal department.

Janelle Haggadone is a graduate of Vanderbilt University Law School and the University of Michigan. She served as a summer associate at a Nashville-based law firm, and at Common Ground Legal Clinic in Bloomfield Hills. She also served as a clinical case manager at Oakland County-based Crossroads for Youth.

Yvonne Kupfermann is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame Law School and the University of Michigan. She served as a summer law clerk to Judge George J. Quist of Kent County 17th Circuit Court. She also served as a summer intern at a Grand Rapids-based civil litigation firm and as an intern at a Grand Rapids family law firm.

Justin Ooms is a graduate of Indiana University Maurer School of Law and Calvin College. His legal experience includes serving as an extern to Judge Sara L. Ellis of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Ooms also served for several years as a legal intern for Transdev North America Inc.

Novi

Kevin Macaddino is a graduate of Wayne State University Law School and Michigan State University. He has more than 30 years of legal experience. Macaddino will focus on real estate land acquisition, development, financing and leasing. He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan Real Property Law Section and serves on a Special Committee for Commercial Leasing and the Commercial Real Estate Development and Ownership Committee.

John Kenny is a graduate of Michigan State University College of Law and Indiana University. His legal expertise is centered on corporate matters. He has assisted companies outside the United States in compliance matters involving the Committee on Foreign Investment, Federal Trade Commission, U.S. Department of the State and the Bureau of Industry and Security.

Lauren Potocsky is a graduate of Wayne State University Law School and Michigan State University, James Madison College. As a student attorney, she worked at the Legal Advocacy for People with Cancer Law Clinic. She also has served as a law clerk for a southeast Michigan-based plaintiff law firm and as a legislative intern for the Michigan House of Representatives.
