A law firm in the area has been acquired.
Rockford-based Van Eck Law Firm was acquired by Detroit-based Kotz Sangster Wysocki, according to Kotz Sangster this summer.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the acquisition was funded by Kotz Sangster.
Van Eck Law Firm was founded in 2009 by attorney Todd Van Eck. The firm was comprised of two attorneys, Van Eck and Haley Clough, and its office administrator, Brittney Houseman.
They have all joined Kotz Sangster and will continue to serve clients from their Rockford office and Kotz Sangster’s downtown Grand Rapids office. Van Eck will oversee both offices.
“We have been impressed with the breadth of Van Eck’s corporate transactional and litigation experience, their business acumen and their desire to expand the services they provide in West Michigan," said Greg Wysocki, president, Kotz Sangster Wysocki.
"We are confident that this acquisition will strengthen our firm’s Grand Rapids community involvement and ability to service middle-market businesses in the region."
Todd Van Eck has 22 years of experience in business law, tax law, litigation, real estate and estate planning. His firm primarily worked with “high-growth businesses” in real estate, development, manufacturing and professional services.
“To accommodate rapid growth, we were looking for a strong acquisition partner to better serve our clients with a full breadth of resources,” Van Eck said. “Kotz Sangster was the right-size fit for us, because they expanded our clients’ access to experienced, diverse counsel, but they don’t sacrifice on their dedication to responsive, client-focused service.”
Kotz Sangster, founded in 1978, also has offices in South Haven, St. Joseph, Niles and Bloomfield Hills.
