Law firm appoints COO

Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge named Allen G. Nederveld its new COO.

He will oversee the finances, facilities, human resources, marketing, technology and business planning of the firm’s four offices in Ann Arbor, Holland, Grand Rapids and Muskegon.

“We are lucky to welcome Allen to Smith Haughey,” said Matt Wikander, CEO of Smith Haughey. “His experience in law firm leadership, coupled with his insight as an attorney, complement our needs incredibly well. We’re looking forward to working with and learning from him.”

Nederveld has 24 years of legal and business administration experience. He served eight years as the administrator/operations officer of BakerHostetler’s Columbus, Ohio, office. He oversaw the business and strategic management of over 70 attorneys and a 45-person support staff.

He also served in numerous roles with the Columbus Airport Authority, including as senior counsel and manager of risk.

He earned his Master of Arts in administration and Juris Doctor from Ohio State University. He received his Bachelor of Arts in political science from Calvin University.
