Local attorneys named ‘leaders in law’

Two Grand Rapids attorneys were named “Leaders in the Law” by Michigan Lawyers Weekly.

Troy M. Cumings of Warner Norcross + Judd and Adam Tountas of Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge are among 25 attorneys who will be honored at the Leaders in the Law awards luncheon on Dec. 2 at the Detroit Marriott Troy, at 200 W. Big Beaver Road, Troy.

The attorneys were selected based on their “outstanding contributions to the practice of law and the justice system in Michigan” through their leadership and expertise in a variety of legal areas.

Cumings serves as the executive partner of Warner Norcross’s Lansing office and also works at the Grand Rapids office. He has over 20 years of experience working on government policy in the U.S. and around the world.

He specializes in government affairs, resources, energy and environmental law, economic incentives, government contracting and policy areas in health care, child welfare, tax, economic incentives, labor, energy, mining, licensing, religious issues and banking.

Cumings is the chair of the Michigan Chamber Energy and Environment Committee and the Michigan chapter for the Republican National Lawyers Association. He also is a member of the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce Public Policy Committee, West Michigan Air and Waste Management Association and National Brownfield Association.

Tountas is a litigator who specializes in alternative dispute resolution, appellate law, commercial litigation services and employment litigation.

He litigates contract disputes, violation of fiduciary, tortious interference, fraud and misrepresentations, wrongful termination, violation of a noncompete agreement, age discrimination, gender discrimination and failure to promote.
