A legal association in the region focused on the advancement of women in the profession and society has named the winner of its Outstanding Member Award.

The Women Lawyers Association of Michigan Western Region has given its 2016 Outstanding Member Award to Kimberly Large, an attorney at Mika Meyers in Grand Rapids.

The Outstanding Member Award recognizes a member of the association’s Western Region for mentoring women and other lawyers, a high level of professional achievement, pro bono work or other public service and significant contributions to promoting the legal profession or improving the administration of justice.

Large received the award in recognition of her commitment to the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan, or WLAM.

She has been a member of WLAM since 2007. She has served as president of the WLAM Western Region from 2013 to 2014 and a board member from 2009 to 2015.

Large specializes in civil litigation and focuses on trademark and employment law.

WLAM Western Region’s board selects the Outstanding Member Award winner from nominees who are nominated by WLAM members.

Recipients must be a current member of the WLAM Western Region and must exhibit at least some, if not all, of the attributes that the award is meant to recognize.

Amanda Narvaes, president of the WLAM Western Region, shared WLAM’s mission: “to secure the rights of women in society and advance the interests of women members of the legal profession, to promote improvements in the administration of justice, to promote equality and social justice for all people, to improve relations between the legal profession and public and to encourage the continued legal education of lawyers.”
