A Grand Rapids marketing agency announced this morning that it has been acquired by a global firm.
Hanon McKendry said it has joined forces with JDA Worldwide and will serve as the firm’s creative group, providing advertising, branding and design for JDA clients in its six offices.
Bill McKendry, founder of Hanon McKendry, will assume the role of vice chairman and chief creative officer for JDA.
JDA Worldwide offers research and strategy, media planning and buying, and creative services including advertising, branding and design to clients across the country and globally.
In addition to Hanon McKendry’s offices in Grand Rapids and Colorado Springs, JDA also has offices in Atlanta, Indianapolis, Traverse City and St. Simons Island, Georgia.
Hanon McKendry will continue to operate out of its offices in Grand Rapids and Colorado Springs.
Keith Brock will continue as chief design officer for Hanon McKendry in Colorado.
The group is bringing on Brent Huffman from JDA’s Atlanta office as executive creative director for Hanon McKendry. He will work out of the Grand Rapids office.
McKendry said the acquisition provides “leverage” for both firms.
He also said being part of a full service global agency will allow the firm to “grow as the creative group” and to take Hanon McKendry to an “even greater level of creative excellence and impact.”
Brad Benbow, JDA Worldwide chairman and CEO, said he has “admired” Hanon McKendry for years.
“We’ve served many of the same market segments, and their values and skill sets were a perfect complement to ours,” he said.
Current JDA Worldwide agency partner clients include Ark Encounter, Farm Rich, Focus on the Family, Gentex, Legrand North America, Mainstreet and SeaPak.
