A golf tournament is bringing a country concert with a pair of national acts to Fifth Third Ballpark.
When the Meijer LPGA Classic, presented by Kraft, comes to Grand Rapids Aug. 7-10 at Blythefield Country Club, it will also host a variety of special events.
Today, the tournament said that it will produce the Meijer LPGA Community Concert on Aug. 9 at the ballpark.
The concert, presented by General Mills, will feature country signer Gary Allan and the country duo Big & Rich.
Tickets go on sale June 26 online, starting at $10.
Acts
Gary Allan is touring with his new album “Set you Free.” Allan has sold more than 7 million albums and released five platinum and gold albums in a row.
Big & Rich has gone multi-platinum in the past. The duo has a single, “Look at You,” from their upcoming album and their theme song for ESPN’s College GameDay is easily recognized by sports fans, going on nearly a decade.
Hunger campaign
The proceeds from the concert and the tournament will head to Meijer’s Simply Give program. The program has given more than $9 million to Midwest food pantries since 2008.
"We are excited to see the two events come together and look forward to seeing golf and music fans enjoy a week of festivities in Grand Rapids," said Lesley Baker, tournament director.
