Manufacturer acquires automation company

A manufacturer in the region has acquired a provider of automation systems for the automotive industry.

Holland-based JR Automation said this month it acquired Auburn Hills-based Esys Automation.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

This is JR Automation’s fourth acquisition in six months as it seeks to advance its global growth initiatives.

“Esys’ capabilities, dedication, sense of urgency and focus on quality for their worldwide customer base is well-aligned with the culture and strategy at JR Automation, so we anticipate a smooth transition,” said Mike DuBose, chair and CEO, JR Automation.

Chris Marcus, president of Esys Automation, said he is “extremely excited and proud” for his company to become part of JR Automation.

“Joining forces with the JR Automation team will provide great opportunities for our people and increase our ability to support our customers both technically and geographically,” Marcus said.

“Similarly, aligning best practices and leveraging each organization’s tremendous engineering and manufacturing talent will improve our ability to deliver highly sophisticated automation systems on a global scale.”

Esys Automation

Founded in 1999, Esys Automation is an automation solutions provider to the automotive industry.

It provides automation design, simulation and machine building, including advanced robotic systems and industry-specific software solutions.

Esys specializes in vehicle assembly applications in areas such as press, powertrain, plastics, body assembly, paint and sealer, final assembly and tire and wheel.

The company has 170-plus employees across two locations in Auburn Hills and one in Greenville, South Carolina.
