A metalworking and welding machine shop in the region has been acquired by a Michigan manufacturer.

Harbor Springs-based Central Industrial Manufacturing, a precision CNC manufacturing company, acquired Buchanan-based GP Manufacturing last month, according to GP Manufacturing’s M&A advisor, Grand Rapids-based Calder Capital, today.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Central Industrial Manufacturing is acquiring the clients, assets and custom tooling abilities of GP Manufacturing, as well as its team of five employees.

Gordon “Butch” Payton is founder of GP Manufacturing and its current VP. He said he is happy with the acquisition.

“The entire process took only a little longer than seven months, from initially reaching out to Calder to closing, which was less than I expected,” Payton said. “I look forward to ensuring a smooth transition for Central Industrial.”

Max Friar, managing director at Calder Capital, said GP Manufacturing will be “a great fit and should integrate smoothly with Central Industrial Manufacturing.”
