A manufacturer in the region has named its first-ever marketing director.
Grand Haven-based GHSP, a subsidiary of JSJ Corporation, hired John Major for the role, according to the company this week.
GHSP intends the new position to be “a catalyst for new market innovations and growth domestically and internationally.”
“John is a proven and trusted leader who understands how to link our customers to our strategy,” said Tom Rizzi, CEO, GHSP. “I look forward to working with him and our entire leadership team to continue driving the business forward as we pursue the next phase of our evolution as a global supplier.”
Throughout his career, Major has brought “strategic and innovative change” to companies, resulting in revenue growth, according to GHSP.
“GHSP is a company on the move, and I’m looking forward to helping the team grow in strategic ways in the markets we serve, while continuing to explore and expand into new markets,” Major said.
Major has more than 20 years of experience leading marketing and communications efforts.
Most recently, he was senior manager of corporate marketing and communications at Dexter-based Paladin Attachments.
Previously, he served Warrenville, Illinois-based Pettibone as director of marketing from 2012 to 2016.
In 2002, he founded the Marquette-based marketing, design and production agency MediaBox and served as principal and president for 10 years.
He also held general manager and art direction roles at Cook Sign Services and Video Concepts between 1995 and 2002.
He holds a B.F.A. in graphic communications from Northern Michigan University.
Founded in 1924 as a metal stamping company, GHSP designs and manufactures control systems and technology solutions primarily for the automobile and high-end appliance industries.
Its products include touchscreens, Bluetooth- and Wi-Fi-connected controls, auto shifters and high-tech interfaces.
GHSP has locations in Michigan, Mexico, China, Japan and Germany.
