A manufacturer in the area has selected an auto industry leader as its new vice president of operations.
Cascade Township-based Cascade Engineering said last week it hired Steve Bushong for the role covering its nine business units, collectively known as the Cascade Engineering Family of Companies.
Bushong brings more than 30 years of manufacturing experience to the position, particularly in the global automotive supply industry.
“We are thrilled to have Steve join us as our vice president of operations,” said Christina Keller, president and CEO, Cascade Engineering. “He brings a depth of experience and knowledge in manufacturing that will allow us to fulfill our goal of world-class manufacturing and operational excellence.
“Most importantly, Steve places people first, and his character and integrity represent a strong cultural fit aligned with our triple bottom line heritage.”
Bushong said he is “honored to join such a highly respected organization.”
“I am excited to share my expertise leading operations for Cascade Engineering,” he said.
Prior to joining Cascade, Bushong was VP of North American operations for Yanfeng Automotive Interiors in Holland.
He started his career with Prince Corporation as a manufacturing ergonomics engineer and became the lead engineer for advanced manufacturing in the automotive overhead products group. Johnson Controls, JCI, purchased Prince Corporation in 1996, and Bushong was named injection molding manager of operations. He became group manager for injection molding process development in 1999 and was the plant manager for three separate JCI facilities from 2000 to 2011.
Bushong was named operations director for all seven JCI facilities in Holland in 2011. He was promoted to VP of North American operations for Johnson Controls Automotive Interiors in 2013.
Yanfeng Automotive Trim Systems Co. of Shanghai purchased a controlling interest (70 percent) of JCI’s $3-billion automotive interiors business in 2015, and Bushong was named VP of North American operations for Yanfeng Automotive Interiors.
Bushong is a member of the National Association of Manufacturers’ Manufacturing Leadership Council.
He earned a B.S. in business and manufacturing engineering from Ferris State University in 1988.
Founded in 1973, Cascade Engineering specializes in manufacturing large injection-molded plastic parts.
Its nine business units support a range of markets, including transportation, environmental services, office seating, material handling, polymer compounding and RFID asset management.
The company employs 1,900 people at 13 facilities in North America, with additional operations in Budapest, Hungary.
