A manufacturer of air-moving products is expanding and renovating its headquarters in the region and adding 30 jobs over the next three years.
Gast Manufacturing is investing $6 million primarily to modernize its headquarters in Benton Township, at 2300 M-139, according to the Benton Harbor-based economic development organization Cornerstone Alliance this week.
The investment includes modernizing labs and research and development areas, as well as adding administrative and employee spaces, including offices, conference rooms, restrooms and breakrooms.
The business wanted to update the outdated space and be able to host clients on site, according to Shane Kissack, a business development manager, Cornerstone Alliance.
Scott Kerns, president of Gast Manufacturing, said the expansion will allow the company to grow with its customer base.
“These specific investments will allow us to stay at the cutting edge of product technology, as well as create an atmosphere that will allow us to attract talent,” Kerns said.
Benton Township approved a 12-year tax abatement for the project.
Founded in 1921, Gast Manufacturing creates air-moving products — including vacuum pumps, compressors, air motors, gear motors, vacuum generators and regenerative blowers — for manufacturing, health care and environmental applications.
The company is a business unit of Lake Forest, Illinois-based IDEX Corporation.
