Kalamazoo-based Stryker ranks No. 11 in Fortune’s 2019 ranking of the “100 Best Companies to Work For” in the U.S. — the ninth year it has been recognized.
Last year, Stryker ranked No. 16 in the Fortune ranking, which is in its 22nd year.
“We are one of the ‘100 Best Companies to Work For’ because of our people,” said Katy Fink, VP and chief human resources officer, Stryker.
“Our talented employees live our mission and values every day and go above and beyond to make health care and our workplace better. We thank them for their passion, commitment and drive to make Stryker a special place to work.”
Fortune partners with research firm Great Place to Work, or GPTW, to create the ranking, which represents the feedback of more than 4.3 million employees across the U.S. from companies that have a workforce of 1,000 or more.
GPTW scores each company through an analysis of anonymous employee responses to more than 60 survey questions.
Eighty-five percent of the evaluation is based on what employees report about their experiences of trust and reaching their full human potential as part of their organization. The reported experiences are then analyzed relative to each organization’s size, workforce makeup and what’s typical in their industry and region.
In addition, GPTW evaluated each companies’ programs and practices as measured through a “culture audit.”
GPTW ranks the “100 Best Companies to Work For” by comparing participants’ scores against similarly sized peers to choose companies that perform the best on characteristics such as being a great place to work for all, executive team effectiveness, innovation and people-focused programs.
Each company in the ranking received a 95-percent confidence level and 5-percent margin of error or better.
