A maker of manufacturing systems in the area has launched a new company.
Zeeland-based Hil-Man Automation said it launched a spin-off business, Precision Dispense Technologies, or PDT, to supply its advanced manufacturing customers with a complete line of meter-mix and dispensing products to meet their primer and adhesive application needs.
The new company will be based at Hil-Man’s existing facility, 260 E. Roosevelt Ave. in Zeeland.
Hil-Man Automation’s turnkey automated manufacturing systems often feature the dispensing products that Precision Dispense Technologies will sell and service, according to Hil-Man officials.
Tim Boeve, owner and president of Hil-Man and PDT, said “the development of PDT married very well with what we were doing (at Hil-Man).”
“We’re excited about Precision Dispense Technologies, and we know our customers are, too. We look forward to collaborating with our customers and suppliers to deliver world-class automation solutions while upholding our exceptional customer service and quality manufacturing,” he said.
Boeve said PDT products will be manufactured mostly in-house, with assistance from local machine shops for some of the detail work.
He said PDT will be primarily powered by Hil-Man’s employees, although the company has hired a purchasing specialist and a sales representative, with the potential to hire more as PDT ramps up production.
The two companies will eventually need to move to a new location, Boeve said, as the Roosevelt Avenue facility is landlocked and has no room to expand.
“We’re very optimistic and excited about how things are at the moment,” he said.
Founded in 2003, Hil-Man provides automation and machining services for the automotive glass market.
