A medical device manufacturer is building a 10,000-square-foot facility in Holland Charter Township.

Holland-based Encoris Group Corporation — which designs, manufactures and distributes medical models and surgical trainers for education, promotion, simulation and clinical skills learning within the medical device sector — is investing $1,027,494 into a new, 10,000-square-foot facility the company will be moving into later this month at 180 Roost Court in Holland Holland Charter Township.

Lakeshore Advantage connected the company with local resources for the project.

“Encoris Group Corporation’s success story is incredible,” said Jennifer Owens, Lakeshore Advantage president. “We’ve been working closely with them since 2013. What started as an entrepreneurial business in a church café has grown into a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. We love seeing companies get what they need to thrive in our region.”

Encoris Group’s focus is to meet its customers’ anatomical medical modeling needs. Its new facility will support additional design, development and manufacturing to drive advanced product innovations in the industry.

“The medical device industry is constantly introducing new implant technologies. Encoris’ superior medical models and surgical trainers will greatly promote those technologies globally,” said Jim TenBrink, co-founder, vice president and client growth strategist at Encoris.

Encoris first got connected to SURGE in 2013. SURGE, powered by Lakeshore Advantage, provides high-potential product placement and technology startups with the tools and resources they need to launch and commercialize successful companies. SURGE played a key role in Encoris’ development and assisted it with securing additional funding, the company said.

“Today, with Jennifer Owens, Amanda Chocko (director of entrepreneurship) and the team at the helm, their prowess continues in helping small businesses thrive,” TenBrink said. “Being a SURGE member provides tremendous value for any budding entrepreneur or company relocating to West Michigan.”

Holland Charter Township is supporting the project in the form of a 12-year industrial facilities tax exemption approved Thursday, May 19.

“Holland Charter Township is pleased to support the growth of Encoris Group Corporation, and we wish them continued success,” said Steve Bulthuis, Holland Charter Township manager.
