An integrated marketing firm has named the recipients of its first matching service grants.
Spectacle Creative Media in Bryon Center said recently that it has awarded two matching service grants worth $8,000.
The firm said that “for every $1 the grantee spends on the approved project, Spectacle Creative Media will contribute up to $2 with in-kind services towards the project,” according to its website.
"Spectacle Creative Media is a relatively young company, and so we know how periods of growth or capacity issues can affect business and organizations,” said Tamaryn Tobian, founder, Spectacle Creative Media. “We wanted to create a unique way to help other young companies or organizations during times of transition stretch their resources further.”
Spectacle Creative Media chose these recipients because of the quality of their projects and the impacts they could have and “because these women are both incredibly smart and talented, and we wanted to help champion them,” Tobian said.
“The hard work of these entrepreneurs, nonprofits, content creators and small business owners is at the core of thriving communities,” Tobian said.
In the arts and entertainment category, Mary Brodbeck, a Kalamazoo filmmaker and founder of Mary Brodbeck Productions, received a grant valued at $5,200.
Brodbeck, who spent almost 10 years as an industrial designer for Steelcase and Haworth, is in the process of making her first film, “Becoming Made,” a 36-minute documentary, where she demonstrates and explores the significance of ancient Japanese woodblock printmaking.
Brodbeck said she "can't wait for my new film to be released, so that I can share my passion with a larger audience."
“This grant, along with the Spectacle Creative Media team, will go a long way toward reaching my goals," Brodbeck said.
In the women or minority-owned business category, Triad Resource Group, a Chicago-based nonprofit, received a grant valued at $2,400.
“We recently experienced some company-wide wins that reinforce our belief that there is still a long way to go in properly resourcing this market segment and that indicate it’s time to take our services to the masses,” said Lauren Dillon, founder, Triad Resource Group. “We believe Spectacle Creative Media can assist us in getting to that point.”
