A local supplier of packaging for the health care industry has opened a manufacturing facility in China.

Grand Rapids-based Oliver Healthcare Packaging said this spring it opened a 68,000-square-foot plant in Suzhou, China.

Mike Benevento, CEO of Oliver Products Company — the parent company of Oliver Healthcare Packaging — said sales growth in Asia spurred the expansion.

“Our customer base has grown significantly in the Asia-Pacific market, and we are doing all we can to help drive and support their success, including opening this facility in addition to a regional office in Singapore,” Benevento said.

The company is also opening a technical service center and lab in Galway, Ireland later this year.

Facility features

The facility is equipped with an ISO-7-certified clean room environment and will handle pouch making, roll stock converting — including slitting and printing — die-cut lid manufacturing and mounting card production.

It also has a testing lab and technical service center, a microbiological lab and warehouse and distribution facilities.
