A local anesthesiologist and health system executive has been named president of a statewide medical society with more than 15,000 physicians.

David Krhovsky was formally named to the role with the Michigan State Medical Society last month after being elected by the society’s House of Delegates.

During the 151st-annual House of Delegates meeting in Dearborn, Krhovsky delivered his inaugural speech, focusing on the need for collaboration and teamwork among health care providers to deliver patients the highest quality and affordable care.

Krhovsky has practiced medicine for more than 20 years.

He is the VP of medical affairs at Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids and a practicing anesthesiologist, who’s been on staff at Spectrum Health Hospital Group for the past 13 years.

He also previously served as president of the Spectrum Health medical staff.

Prior to that, he was on staff at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids for 18 years.

He is a graduate of the Wayne State University School of Medicine.

Krhovsky has held leadership positions in several organizations, including the Kent County Medical Society, Kent Medical Foundation, Michigan Society of Anesthesiologists and American Society of Anesthesiologists.

The mission of the Michigan State Medical Society is to promote a health care environment that supports physicians in caring for and enhancing the health of Michigan’s citizens through science, quality and ethics in the practice of medicine.
