Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park is featuring 16 contemporary artists in an exhibition jointly organized with Grand Rapids-based DisArt.
The exhibition titled “Process and Presence: Contemporary Disability Sculpture” shares pieces from artists "whose work represents local, national and global perspectives on the experiences of living with disability."
The exhibit will feature sculptures, performances, installations and video from Sept. 14 through Jan. 6, 2019.
“This exhibition presents some of the finest examples of contemporary disability sculpture in a wide variety of media” said Joseph Becherer, chief curator and VP of collections and exhibitions, Meijer Gardens. “The depths and dimensions of this exhibition are both enlightening and rewarding.”
Visitors will also get the opportunity to see some of the artists in action at certain points during the exhibition's run.
