The Meijer grocery store slated for downtown has its name — and it won’t be Meijer.
The store on the corner of Bridge Street and Seward Avenue in Grand Rapids — which breaks ground on June 26 — will be known as Bridge Street Market.
Construction on the first phase of the mixed-used development is scheduled to be completed by fall 2018.
The site is cleared.
The entire project is a $55-million development that includes the 38,000-square-foot grocery store concept, 116 apartments, 64 affordable housing units, a parking deck and an office and retail building with 56,000 square feet office space, including the West Michigan Center for Arts and Technology.
The development on the 3.3-acre spot is led by Grand Rapids-based Rockford Construction, with the Inner City Christian Federation as partner, along with Mercantile Bank and Michigan Economic Development Corp.’s Michigan Strategic Fund.
