Meijer is teaming up with schools throughout the Midwest to create greeting cards from students' artwork — and raise funds for classrooms in the process.
Working with Artwork for Education, the student-made cards will be for sale in 30 Meijer stores in Michigan, Illinois and Indiana. The cards can also be purchased online at www.artworkforeducation.com. School boosters can also sign up for a greeting card fundraider at the site.
For each card sold, Meijer and Artwork for Education will donate 50 cents to participating schools in the Meijer footprint. Each year, more than three million public school teachers "spend an average of $500 of their own money on classroom supplies," according to Artwork for Education.
The student-made cards — themed for the holidays, birthdays and more — are blank inside. The back includes the name and age of the student who created the card and name of the school benefiting from the fundraiser.
