A family owned metal parts maker in the region is investing $27.8 million in its operation.

Sigma Machine, which serves multiple industries and is a tier-one supplier to Tesla, is expanding its facility in Comstock Township, at 3358 Center Park Plaza, and creating 58 jobs.

The expansion is due to the company’s ongoing customer growth strategy.

Sigma chose to expand at its current facility over a competing site in Wisconsin.

Incentive

The company was awarded a $350,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant by the Michigan Economic Development Corp., or MEDC.

Kalamazoo-based Southwest Michigan First, an economic development nonprofit, has also offered support for the project in the form of staff time and resources.

Sigma

Founded in 1955, Sigma Machine specializes in stainless steel and aluminum machining and serves various industries: electric vehicle, aviation, food processing, medical and green energy. It also has experience working with plastic and non-ferrous materials.

Sigma employs more than 100 people in the Kalamazoo area.
