A new Mexican restaurant in the region is opening today.

The newest On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina in the market is in Holland, at 12383 James St.

The location includes 3,500 square feet of dining and bar space, plus an additional 1,000 square feet of patio space.

The location can seat up to 207 diners and expects to employ 130 people.

“Holland is a very close-nit community, and On The Border is excited to get involved and be an integral community partner,” said Dennis Buchanan, general manager, On The Border.

“I’ve worked for On The Border for more than 11 years. I love the brand, and I have no doubt that the people of Holland and surrounding areas are going to love it too.”

It’s the chain’s third location in the greater Grand Rapids area and includes a new prototype for On The Border locations, featuring an open kitchen with a wood-burning grill.

On The Border has more than 150 locations in 33 states, Puerto Rico and the Middle East.

“Quite simply, we want to be Ottawa/Allegan County’s favorite Mexican restaurant,” said Ward Whitworth, president, On The Border. “We’re proud of our heritage and eager to bring our great flavors, unique cocktails and great times to Holland.”
