A house featuring all Michigan items, people and ideas will be on display during ArtPrize.
Michigan House, which made its debut in March at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas, will host a pop-up storefront in the Trust Building at 40 Pearl St. NW. The spot will be open throughout ArtPrize, Sept. 23-Oct. 11.
The Michigan House is spearheaded by the Detroit-based arts and culture economic development organization Creative Many Michigan and produced by Middle West, which creates pop-up "environments" around events.
Many Michigan organizations are sponsoring the house: the Michigan Film & Digital Media Office, Herman Miller, GR Current, Founders Brewing Co., Open Systems Technologies, Wolverine Worldwide, Start Garden and CWD Real Estate Investment.
“With a rich legacy of creativity and innovation across our state's history, Michigan’s creative and design industries are strategically poised today for increased growth. The Michigan House at ArtPrize will cultivate heightened visibility for these unique assets and establish resources and networks that will accelerate business and economic development opportunities statewide,” said Jennifer Goulet, president and CEO, Creative Many Michigan.
Throughout the 19-day event, Michigan House will host daily events by the sponsors.
Following ArtPrize, Michigan House will find its way to Detroit’s North American International Auto Show next January. Michigan House will also return to SXSW next March.
