Since it was launched in December, ridership on the Monroe North DASH bus service has been steadily increasing.
Howard Hansen, president of the Monroe North Business Association, reported in an email that March ridership reached 1,407, and during the month of April, 1,926 riders took the shuttle, with a daily record of 167 people on April 24.
“Way to go Monroe North,” Hansen said in the email. “Now, we have to keep this momentum going and keep promoting this very needed benefit to our neighborhood.”
Hansen is clearly excited by the ridership numbers being reported in the message, indicating that the Monroe North DASH is being viewed as a successful addition to the downtown transportation system.
The Grand Rapids Downtown Development Authority is working on creating additional funding partnerships with businesses in the Monroe North area to ensure the long-term sustainability of the route.
