Wayland-based Denali Flavors is following its Moose Tracks ice cream into new territory.

Denali Flavors is entering the novelty ice cream category by introducing Moose Tracks and Caramel Caribou ice cream bars and sandwiches to the grocery aisle.

The ice cream bars and sandwiches are available at Meijer and other select retailers and will be available at more grocery chains in the next month.

The Original Moose Tracks flavor was introduced in the mid '80s by husband-and-wife entrepreneurs Wally and June Blume. It has since become one of the top-selling specialty ice cream flavors in the ice cream industry.

"The Moose Tracks brand has always been about offering premium decadent ice creams at family value prices, and we're applying that same principle to our novelty items," said Neal Glaeser, president of Denali Flavors. "The frozen ice cream novelty category is a $4.2 billion segment that we are just now tapping into, and we are confident that Moose Tracks fans will be thrilled to enjoy their favorite flavor in a fun new way."

The new lines include several Denali Flavors ice cream flavors: Original Moose Tracks Ice Cream Sandwiches, Original Moose Tracks Ice Cream Bars, Triple Chocolate Moose Tracks Ice Cream Bars and Caramel Caribou Ice Cream Bars.

The ice cream sandwiches are being sold in packages of four, while ice cream bars are available in packages of three.

Suggested retail prices for the items range from $2.99-$3.99 per package.
