MSU partners with MEDC for in-state purchasing

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Michigan State University is partnering with the Michigan Economic Development Corp. on a program designed to boost Michigan businesses.

The East Lansing school announced Tuesday that it plans to tap in-state suppliers for at least half of its purchasing.

Pure Michigan Business Connect is an MEDC initiative connecting in-state companies to business resources, including large buyers.

Michigan State says it's the first university to partner with the MEDC on the effort. The school says that last year it spent around $396 million in state on products.
