Jaimy Gordon, 2010 National Book Award-winning writer, will speak at Aquinas College tomorrow as part of the college’s Contemporary Writers Series.

Gordon’s work has included poetry, fiction, translations and essays, and she has been recognized often for her writing and storytelling talents. She received the National Book Award for Fiction for her latest novel, “Lord of Misrule,” and in 2000 her novel “Bogeywoman” made the Los Angeles Times Best Books list.

Gordon, a native of Baltimore, joined the English Department at Western Michigan University in 1981. She became a full professor in 1992 and continues to teach at the Kalamazoo-based university.

In addition to the public reading at Aquinas, Gordon also will spend part of the day meeting with creative writing students in workshops and will offer readings for students in the college's first and second year core courses.

The Contemporary Writers Series is free and open to the public. Gordon’s reading will begin at 7 p.m. in the Wege Ballroom on the Aquinas College campus.
