A Tennessee-based developer has its sights set on bringing a national sports retailer to Holland.
Hutton Development Group has purchased the 11.3-acre property at 3530 W. Shore Drive Holland, on which sits a former Home Depot that opened there in 2006 and closed in 2011. The developer has plans to expand the approximately 104,112-square-foot former Home Depot building and bring in a Dick’s Sporting Goods store, as well as move another five tenants into the space, said Meghann Reynolds, Holland Township’s interim community development director.
The building will be expanded to approximately 113,022 square feet, with the additional build-out construction costing about $790, 905, Reynolds said. Dick’s Sporting Goods will occupy slightly more than half of the new space.
Hutton received its city and township zoning permits in March, Reynolds said. Although she did not know what the project’s timeframe was, she did say that Hutton has already begun construction work on the building’s exterior.
“We certainly think this will benefit the area in general. It’s a prime shopping area in the community and we certainly think Dick’s will add to that,” Reynolds said. “It’ll also be a benefit for tourist shopping and it’s nice they’re utilizing an existing building … and it will create jobs.”
