New Holland Brewing Co. is growing — just like many of Michigan’s other breweries.
The Holland-based brewer recently announced a $1-million expansion to its downtown Holland taproom, at 66 East 8th St. Last year, the company invested $3 million into an expansion of its production facility in Holland Township.
The taproom renovation will include a larger kitchen, more taps — including cask taps — and a beer garden on the south side of the building, which will include an outdoor bar and music stage.
“The beer garden is a big part of the renovation,” said Dave White, New Holland’s brewpub manager. “We are putting the same artful consideration into the details as we do our beer and spirits. This is a labor of love.”
The expansion will allow the pub to hire about six new employees.
Interior renovations are slated to finish up in March, with the beer garden completion coming in May.
New Holland Brewing will also celebrate the return of the first beer it produced, Paleooza, by hosting a pub crawl in downtown Holland.
The beer hasn’t been produced in eight years and will return to the taps in a version made with entirely Michigan-grown hops.
The pub crawl will take place Feb. 16 and will include several stops, such as Skiles Tavern, 84 East, Butch’s Dry Dock, 8th Street Grille and Curragh.
