A real estate photography company has earned recognition for its social and environmental practices.

Grand Rapids-based Next Door Photos achieved B Corporation status through the nonprofit B Lab, making it the 15th B Corp in West Michigan and the 17th in the state, according to Local First this week, a Grand Rapid-based nonprofit.

“Achieving B Corp certification validates our commitment to making a positive social and environmental impact locally and around the world,” said Taylor Blom, founder, Next Door Photos. “Next Door Photos became a B Corp, because our approach to business aligned so closely with the B Corp motto of ‘using business as a force for good.’ We feel blessed to be a part of the B Corp movement.”

Next Door Photos employs a global in-house editing team, which is staffed by women who have been rescued from human trafficking and/or are at serious risk of exploitation. Every photo shoot booked with Next Door Photos provides four hours of paid employment to women who have been rescued.

Next Door Photos

Founded in 2012 by Blom, Next Door Photos is a network of local real estate photography companies that “empower realtors” with photography, videography, aerials, 3-D models and floor plans.

The company has grown to 11 locations across the U.S., including offices in Grand Rapids and at the lakeshore.

B Lab

B Lab serves as the center of a global movement of people “using business as a force for good.”

Certified B Corporations are for-profit organizations that meet B Lab’s standards of social and environmental “performance, accountability and transparency.”

There are more than 2,000 certified B Corps from 50 countries and 130 industries.
