A social services nonprofit is hosting a fundraiser in town tonight to benefit local programs.

Detroit-based Samaritas is hosting its Be The Rock Celebration Dinner at 6:15 p.m. at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids, at 1000 E. Beltline Ave. NE.

The nonprofit's senior living facility at 2000 32nd St. SE in Grand Rapids is one beneficiary of the fundraiser.

The event will feature a reception with appetizers, live music by the 36th Street Band and silent and live auctions.

The VIP reception will include beer tasting sponsored by New Holland Brewing.

The event will also feature entertainment by the local Scotty Pearson Family, award presentations and a keynote speech by lawyer Bob Goff, author of The New York Times bestseller “Love Does.”

Goff used the book’s profits to create an organization that has advocated for human rights and provided education to children in conflict zones for over 15 years.

People can purchase dinner and general reception tickets for $75. Tickets for dinner and the VIP reception are $100.

Tickets are available online.
