The local chapter of a national association chose its 2020 Outstanding Growth Award winner.

The Association for Corporate Growth Western Michigan said it chose Holland-based packaging manufacturer Bradford Company as the award recipient.

The annual Outstanding Growth Award recognizes a local company that demonstrates sustained growth in sales, profitability, employment and community involvement.

For the past four years, Bradford’s compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) for sales exceeded double digits. The CAGR for earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) was 50% greater than sales.

This success, mostly fueled by organic growth, allowed the company to expand its international presence via acquisition. Bradford added over 450 employees globally during the past four years.

Bradford will be formally recognized at the organization’s annual Outstanding Growth Award celebration which will be held at 20 Monroe Live, 11 Ottawa Ave. NW in downtown Grand Rapids, at a yet-to-be-determined date. The original event was scheduled for March 18 but was postponed due to health concerns as Gov. Gretchen Whitmer declared a state of emergency March 11 over COVID-19.

“More than 20 companies were considered by the committee (and) after careful review, Bradford Company was unanimously selected as the 2020 OGA winner,” said Joel Brandt, ACG Outstanding Growth Award Committee chair and vice president, Macatawa Bank. “Bradford (has showcased) its ability to adapt and reinvent itself throughout the decades of technological change.”

Tom Bradford, CEO of Bradford Company, said his company was humbled to receive the honor.

“The award shines a spotlight on our team’s ongoing efforts at our eight North American operations to listen, develop, communicate and produce cost-effective solutions for our valued customers,” he said.

Other nominees for the 2020 award included Feyen Zylstra and Grand River Aseptic Manufacturing.

Past winners have included Profile Films (2019), Ranir (2018), Comfort Research (2017), OST (2016) and JR Automation (2015).
