A nonprofit leadership and marketing camp has been moved to spring 2022 due to concerns over COVID-19.

The national nonprofit conference Cause Camp, originally planned to take place in Grand Rapids this October, has been postponed until May 2-3, 2022, due to safety concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Along with the date change, the camp has been moved from the Grand Valley State University Pew Campus to DeVos Place, doubling the planned audience capacity.

“In addition to the obvious safety concerns, we wish to maintain the connectivity and fun of the Cause Camp experience,” said Katie Appold, executive director of Do More Good and Nonprofit Hub, which jointly produce the conference. “We are hopeful that by spring, the pandemic will be controlled to the point that we can enjoy a larger and more interactive camp experience than ever before.”

Cause Camp has been nationally recognized by Forbes as a “must-attend” event for the nonprofit sector and has grown significantly in reputation and attendance since its inception in 2001, despite moving to a virtual-only format in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Following the merger of Do More Good and Nonprofit Hub in January, the rescheduled event will take the place of the former Do More Good Nonprofit Conference.

New for 2022 will be a set of half-day intensive workshops with two track options for attendees taking place on May 2. One option will be “Forwarding Faith,” featuring content tailored for Christian ministries and churches and including speakers from Barna Research and Thrivent. The other option will be “Prioritizing & Planning: A Practical Marketing Intensive,” led by longtime Marketing Bootcamp instructor Lindsay Lashell.

Do More Good co-founders Bill McKendry and Katie Appold will emcee the general sessions. General session speakers include Dana Snyder, of Positive Equation; Farra Trompeter, of Big Duck; Masami Sato, of B1G1, Skot Welch, of Global Bridgegbuilders; and digital wellness guru Mark Ostach.

The full lineup of speakers is at cause.camp/speakers. Tickets are available at cause.camp.
