Heart of West Michigan United Way and the Kent County Tax Credit Coalition are offering free tax preparation services through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.

Kent County residents with a household income of $58,000 or less may qualify for free tax services, which can help taxpayers complete their income tax return and apply for a refundable Federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites are available though Monday, April 18, across Kent County, and representatives from Kent County Tax Credit Coalition (KCTCC) are offering free tax services and financial literacy courses to help working individuals and families achieve economic success.

Those interested in setting up a VITA appointment can call 2-1-1 or go online for additional information.

United Way also offers tax services to those who do not meet the income requirement but are interested in electronically preparing and filing their taxes for free through its MyFreeTaxes website.
