A local office furniture dealer is acquiring a maker of wood products and components.

Grand Rapids-based Kentwood Office Furniture, a dealer of new, used and re-manufactured office furniture, said last week that it has purchased Kentwood-based Brys Industries, at 4450 36th St. SE.

KOF purchased Brys last month. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

KOF said Brys Industries will be re-named KOF Wood Solutions and will continue to produce laminate work surfaces and related products from its Kentwood facility.

Art Hasse, president and CEO of KOF, said bringing the production of “a key component" of its re-manufactured office systems in house gives it the infrastructure to “continue to meet and exceed” customer expectations.

Brys employees now work for KOF and will not be seeing a pay change, said Laura Hopson, KOF vice president of sales and marketing.

“I’m assuming they will take on our health plan,” Hopson said. “The good news for them is that their future is secure. We also plan to add to the future.”

KOF has locations in Grand Rapids, Detroit, Lansing, Jackson, Traverse City, Chicago and Indianapolis.

“We’re primed for growth,” Hopson said. “We’ve grown about 20 percent for four years in a row now.”
