A local eye care practice has added another optometrist to its team.
Grand Rapids Ophthalmology, or GRO, said last week it hired Ashley Tholen.
Tholen will provide comprehensive eye care, from routine exams to full-scope optometry, to patients of all ages, including children as young as six months.
“Dr. Tholen’s keen ability to connect with patients of all ages and her wide range of clinical experience makes her an excellent addition,” said Bill Hughson, CEO, Grand Rapids Ophthalmology.
Prior to joining GRO, Tholen was an optometrist with Burke-McLoughlin Eye Associates in Bloomfield, Connecticut.
Tholen has experience in contact lens fitting, post-operative care, managing pathology and treating myopia progression and amblyopia.
She received her doctor of optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry and her undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa.
Grand Rapids-based GRO, founded in 1982, employs 11 ophthalmologists, 19 optometrists, 50 certified opticians and 300 support staff across 12 West Michigan locations.
