A local orthopedic surgeon won a national award from the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics.
Dr. Katherine Sage of Foot & Ankle Specialists of West Michigan was awarded the Emerging Leader award.
The award is bestowed to a professional who demonstrates a high level of community service as well as hospital or community leadership.
“The AOAO Emerging Leader award is a testament to Dr. Sage’s leadership within our practice and commitment to giving back to the West Michigan community,” said Jeff Rowe, executive director, Foot & Ankle Specialists of West Michigan. “It’s with great joy that we celebrate this achievement alongside Dr. Sage.”
After graduating from DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine, Sage completed her orthopedic surgery residency at Metro Health Hospital in Wyoming. Following her residency, she moved to Baltimore for a fellowship in foot and ankle orthopedic surgery at Medstar Union Memorial Hospital.
When she’s not performing orthopedic surgical procedures, Sage enjoys volunteering and maintaining an active lifestyle. She writes a monthly column for Women’s Lifestyle Magazine, serves on the impACT board of directors for the Metro Health Hospital Foundation and trains residents at Metro Health-University of Michigan. Other interests include triathlons, running, skiing, sailing and reading.
The AOAO facilitates training and continuous development of Osteopathic Orthopedic Surgeons to improve the care, healing and quality of life of patients.
Sage takes appointments at Foot & Ankle Specialists of West Michigan’s Grand Rapids Northwest office.
