A brewery in the region is moving down the street.
Cellar Brewing Co. plans to redevelop a property in Sparta, at 133 E. Division St., as well as two adjacent vacant buildings into a space for a brewery and restaurant with a full kitchen.
Cellar Brewing currently operates in Sparta, at 500 E. Division St., about a half-mile east of its future home.
The new location previously housed Momber’s Hometown Pharmacy, which recently moved to a nearby location.
Incentives
Cellar Brewing Co. is expected to invest nearly $1.9 million in the project, which will create 19 full-time-equivalent jobs, according to the Michigan Economic Development Corp., or MEDC, yesterday.
The project will be partially funded by a $250,940 Michigan Community Revitalization Program performance-based grant from the Michigan Strategic Fund.
Additionally, the Village of Sparta is supporting the project with a $110,000 Downtown Development Authority facade grant.
MEDC said the project is expected to bring “significant foot traffic and additional economic activity to the downtown."
