A new doctor has joined the pain management partner for a hospital in the region.
Dr. Spencer Bertram started with the Pain Management Group, which partners with Allegan General Hospital, on June 27.
Bertram will treat conditions such as neck and back pain, headaches, fibromyalgia, chronic pelvic pain, complex regional pain syndrome and nerve damage, as well as pain associated with arthritis, muscle spasms and shingles.
Bertram diagnoses and creates individualized treatment plans for patients based on a number of considerations, including the cause and level of pain.
Bertram is a fellowship-trained and board-certified pain management specialist. He started his medical career as a chiropractor and then graduated with honors from Ross University School of Medicine in Roseau, Dominica.
He is residency-trained in anesthesiology and completed a pain fellowship from the University of Michigan.
His chiropractic doctorate degree comes from Logan University. His undergraduate biology degree is from Northern Michigan University.
He has worked as a provider for MidMichigan Health, University Pain Clinic of Rochester and Crittenton Hospital Medical Center. He also was a clinic assistant professor for Wayne State University.
